Miss Jessie, Get Your People

So in case you ladies didn't know, Target is having a Buy One, Get One free sale on Miss Jessie products until the end of December.  I have a really hard time finding Miss Jessies in stock at my local target, even though when I check the target website, it says that it should be in stock.  I don't even see a space for it on the shelf.  It's like it's not even there.  Well now I know the trick. 

I went to Rocky Mount, NC for Thanksgiving and figured that I'd try their Target.  The website said that it should be available and since it's a smaller area, I thought that I'd have some luck.  When I went in, I scoured the shelves and didnt see Miss Jessies.  I looked at the stickers to see if it even had a tag where it should be, but nope.  No tag.  A helpful associate asked if she could help me (I guess I looked half lost and half pissed), so I asked if they sold Miss Jessies.  And here we go:

Associate: Yes we do, it's in the back.  Which product would you like.
Me: I can't remember the name of it.  The purple one. 
Associate: We only have the big jars and I think that we only have 1 left.  Would you like to pair it with something else in the line? 
Me: No.  I really wanted two of those.
Associate: I'll check for you.  I think that someone bought one yesterday and we were left with one.
Me:She only bought 1 thing.  She didnt know about the buy one get one free sale
Associate: I don't think so. But i'll go in the back and check for you.

She came back with two jars of the Curly Pudding and she said that those were the last two. 

So here's the deal.  First of all, why is it in the back?  Second of all, how are yall gonna let that lady walk out with one jar knowing it was a bogo sale?  And why isn't there any bogo advertisement in the store?  I've heard that people have seen it in other stores. In hindsight, I wish that I'd grilled her about why the product was in the back and not even noted on the shelves.

So Miss Jessie, get your people.  Make sure that you are stocked, well seen, and advertised in your associated Target stores. 

I'm not even going to front like I'm boycotting Target or anything.  But I just wanted to get this little tip out.  Ladies, if you are looking for Miss Jessies in a Target that should stock the product, make sure that you ask if you don't see it.  And make sure that you stock up before Dec 31st!  I need Shampoo and then I'm done!

Let me tell you.  I've been 35 for 7 whole days now and it's great!  I think that i'm a little more gangster and have a little more pep in my step.   Maybe it was the whole hair incident.  Men are coming out of the woodwork.  Men who I haven't spoken to in over a year a rolling out from the pavement.  They've called to say hello.  Happy Birthday.  To see how i'm doing.  But none of them suckas have given me any gifts.  It's like showing up to a potluck without a casserole :) Oh well.

Do you know what Saturday, November 26th is?  It's Small Business Saturday!  We've all shopped Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  Let's help to make Small Business Saturday a success.  I love small businesses where the owners and employees care about their products and their customers.  Especially those that give back to the local communities. Not the ones where the girl is poppin her gum, looking past you, and lets out a sigh to grab a shirt that is 7 feet up a wall, out of your reach.  If you dont want to be bothered, how about you put it down a little lower.  But I digress.

Help spread the word.  Shop at a local small business.  If you need help finding a business to support, you can go to this facebook page and put in your area code.  It will list the small businesses in your community.

If you are a small business and would like to promote your business and add it to the list, you can go here.  The "For Your Biz" link will give you all the informaiton that you need.  It will provide you with signage to post in your stores and badges for your website.  It also gives you free facebook ad credits! 

So lets get ready to support our small businesses.  I'll be supporting some of my favorite businesses like the Savory Spice Shop and TrySports in Raleigh, NC.  I'll definitely need Trysports to help me get myself back together after Thanksgiving.  Lets not make Saturday the only day.  Lets support these businesses throughout the year.

When good hair goes bad..

I celebrated my birthday this past weekend in my home area of DC.  I had a small party at a local lounge and wanted to do something a little different.  So on Thursday night before I went to DC, I got my hair blown out.  As we all know, i'm natural, so I like to get a nice blow out from time to time.  My hair dresser did a great job.  It was silky and moving and straight as an arrow.  I should have known better. 

First of all, as i'm getting dressed for the party, it's like 500 degrees in our room.  I'm sweating and my hair is starting to puff up like a cotton ball.  I'm trying to bend it, but guess what our first lesson of the night is.  Sweaty, natural hair does not bend.  It puffs.  So i'm like, "screw it."  I just need to get out the door.  So I get it manageable and i'm out. 

Now, I'm not a club girl anymore.  So I'd completely forgotten that clubs are like 900 degrees.  Guess what this means for my hair that has now decided to act like a belligerent two year old and do it's own thing?  It grows.  I mean it was seriously growing and becoming this ginormous bush.  And not a cute bush either.  We're not talking Tracee Ellis Ross afro.  Not even Angela Davis afro.  We're talking about little girl on the porch in The Color Purple bush.  We're talking Clarence Williams III in Tales from the Hood bush.  Man it was bad.  I was bumming bobby pins off of my friends to try and tame the situation.  It didn't help.  I mean, they were literally pulling bobby pins out of their hair to help me out.  It's the most hilarious situation ever.  What could I do?  I just drank in honor of my birthday and danced.  Yep more sweat.  More puff.  What a great way to bring in 35!

Thanks to all of my friends who came out to celebrate with me.  One of them just started a blog.  Check it out!  The Funny VaGena.  Another one of my friends entered into a 30 day no sex bet.  Trust me, it's a feat for her (how do we start these things).  Let's see if she makes it.  I also got a couple of great gifts.  What a wonderful weekend.
