I've been saying that i'd do it for months and honestly, I would've punked out if it weren't for my cousin. I registered for the Army 10-miler. In all reality, I don't know if I can even run a mile yet. I'd started running again, then stopped. Life is just so darn busy. And I don't care what anyone says. Running is not like riding a bicycle. Well maybe if you fell off, broke both knees and ankles, and had to learn to ride without a seat again. It's hard. It takes work. I'm sure that I can do it, but I have to admit, I'm a little intimidated. I don't want to be first, I don't care if I'm last. I just want to beat the bus. For those of you that aren't familiar, if you aren't past a certain point at a certain time, they send this little shuttle along to pick you up. They figure that you aren't going to finish in a certain amount of time and hey, they have to open the roads back up. I'm in training mode and pushing myself HARD.
The funny thing is, I went for a run/walk in a local park yesterday. So I'm rolling along, I see this gargantuin caterpillar. It was fat and long. I just think wow, what a big caterpillar, it's been a long time since i've seen a caterpillar. It was kind of cute. Black with yellow feet. I'm literally thinking this in my head. My ipod was dead so I had a lot of "thinking time." So I keep going and BOOM! About 5 feet in front of me a deer crosses my path. I almost had a damn heart attack. It was huge. I mean it was so close I could see how muscular it was. It shot across quick as a rocket and paid me no attention. Which clearly it shouldn't have. I mean, i'm on his turf. I really thought for a while if I should turn around. I mean do deer attack people? What if these were wild "people attacking deer." Again, too much thinking time. In the end I finished, but best believe, I looked out for every sound or rustle I heard. I don't wanna have to go all commando on a squirrel or nothin.
